My name is Alain François. I was born in Port au Prince, Haiti and lived there for nine and a half years. My family then moved to Miami where I, for the first time, received praise for my imaginative drawings. For the next few years I worked hard and was eventually accepted to DASH an arts magnet high school in the heart of Miami’s Design District. This is where I first experienced life in the Darkroom; where I learned to become passionate about my photographic work and enjoy those moments of solitude which are provided to me so sparingly. After graduating high school and attending the Kansas City Art Institute I came to the conclusion that photography was more than just a hobby of mine, it was something I could take on for artistic expression. Since my departure from the Kansas City Art Institute my curiosity for new experiences has provided me with the means and courage to approach the photographic process without a firm concept of a final piece or series.
